Working With Me — What to Expect

Not every question needs a phone call. Here are a few things clients often ask before we get started.

How I Work

Do you work with subcontractors?
Yes—for plumbing, electrical, and other licensed trades where required. I only work with professionals I trust and will coordinate everything as part of the job.

Do you clean up at the end of each workday?
Absolutely. I keep the jobsite clean and organized, not just at the end of the project but throughout. Floor protection and dust control are standard.

How do you communicate during the project?
I keep you in the loop with updates that fit the scope. For renovations, that usually means regular check-ins. For smaller jobs, I provide updates as needed without overloading you.

Do you take on more than one job at a time?
I manage one active job at a time so you get my full attention from start to finish.

Getting Started

How do I schedule a consultation or get a proposal?
Start by reaching out through the contact page. We’ll book a time to talk about your project and see if it’s a good fit. From there, I’ll either provide a proposal or a scoped outline depending on the job.

Do you charge for proposals?
Yes—for larger renovation projects, I charge a $250 proposal fee. It covers the time and planning that go into preparing a clear, detailed scope with pricing. If we move forward, the fee is credited toward your project. For smaller home upgrades or carpentry work, I’ll still provide a scoped outline—but without the formal proposal.

What do you need from me to get started?
Just your time and clarity. If you have rough measurements or inspiration photos, that helps—but I can guide you through what’s needed during our call.

How soon can you start?
It depends on the size of the project and current schedule. I don’t overbook, so once we commit to a start date, I stick to it.

Materials & Product Selection

Do you help with material selection?
Yes. I’ll guide you through options that fit the function and style of your space. I also work with suppliers and trades to ensure selections are available when needed.

Can I supply my own materials?
Yes, in some cases. Materials must meet quality standards, and I’ll confirm measurements and lead times to make sure they align with the overall plan.

What kind of materials do you typically use?
I use materials that are well-made, dependable, and suited to the job—no shortcuts, no bottom-barrel options. Everything is chosen with long-term function in mind.

Other Questions

Do you handle permits?
Yes—if your project requires a permit, I’ll handle the application and coordination as part of the job.

What if I want to make changes during the project?
Change orders are always possible—I just make sure the impact on budget and schedule is clear before moving forward.

Do I need to be home while work is happening?
Not always. For longer projects or repeat days, I can work independently with access. Expectations can be set clearly ahead of time.
